The big difference between Gatsby and Prufrock was that Gatsby was desperate for Daisy’s love. He was forced to become another person because a girl wouldn’t accept him by who he really was. Prufrock is a simple man, he does not care about the materials. It’s more about feelings and commitment. I see this in real life a lot. A guy doesn’t like a girls hair, she changes it to please him. A girl doesn’t like the way a guy dresses, he changes his style. It happens a lot without you even noticing.
